Integrative Somatics w/ Cole Cottin

Release & Realign

The body is a regenerative ecosystem — deeply intelligent, wildly resilient, and capable of profound self-healing.

Somatic work is the art of tuning into this inner wisdom. Through gentle guidance and deep presence, Cole supports clients in releasing pain, stress, trauma, and old holding patterns — inviting the body to return to its natural state of balance and flow.

Clients often report increased:

  • Adaptability & resilience

  • Balance, coordination, & range of motion

  • Vitality, clarity, and emotional flow

The Experience

Each session begins by gently shifting into a grounded, embodied state — quieting the inner waters so healing can emerge without force. Whether in-person or online, sessions are calming, collaborative, and deeply restorative.

Depending on your needs, sessions may include:

  • Gentle touch (optional)

  • Breathwork

  • Somatic movement & sound

  • Visualization

  • Somatic dialogue & intuitive reflection

Cole’s trauma-informed presence helps create a space of safety, consent, and compassionate self-exploration.

How It Works

Somatics is a full-body, full-being conversation between you and your nervous system. It draws from a rich well of both modern science and ancient wisdom, weaving together techniques that speak to the body’s fascia — the connective, sensing, mycelial-like network that shapes and responds to your lived experience.

Cole’s approach integrates:

  • Structural Integration (Hellerwork S.I.)

  • CranioSacral Therapy & SomatoEmotional Release

  • MindBody Coaching & Somatic Trauma Therapy

  • Five Elements & Five Spirits Medical QiGong

  • Ayurveda, Vitalism, Seasonal Attunement & Core Shamanism

  • Breathwork, Energywork, and Taoist-informed practices

This multidimensional work doesn’t just treat symptoms — it opens a doorway to deeper awareness, embodied empowerment, and lasting change.

Somatic healing is something we do together — and something you learn to carry within.

Tui Na

Tui Na, meaning "pushing grasping," is a form of Chinese medical massage performed without oil and with clothes on.

Tui Na involves techniques that manipulate soft tissues and fascia to increase circulation, harmonize the flow of Qi and blood, relax tight muscles, and release unnatural holding patterns. When applied to the abdominal region, it can balance digestion, improve elimination, and increase blood flow to reproductive organs.

Tui Na is particularly effective for conditions involving muscles, tendons, and joints, such as structural misalignment, orthopedic problems, and sports injuries.

At Lawrence Acupuncture—

We believe in the body's innate ability to heal itself.

We offer a range of therapeutic bodywork services designed to promote healing, alleviate pain, and restore balance. Our skilled TCM practitioners utilize traditional techniques such as Tui Na, cupping, Gua Sha, and moxibustion to address various health concerns and enhance overall well-being. We also offer Somatic bodywork which integrates Craniosacral and Structural Integration and Hellerwork ~ a dynamic approach to hands-on healing.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique where a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction, drawing superficial tissue into the cup.

The cupping method brings fresh blood to the area and helps improve circulation. Traditional cupping uses heat to create suction inside glass cups, while modern versions use a small pump. The suction gently pulls the skin upward, increasing circulation of blood and lymph, removing toxins, harmonizing the flow of Qi and blood, and releasing tight, sore, and painful muscles.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha involves using a blunt-edged tool made of ceramic or jade to perform deep tissue massage on specific areas of the body.

Gua Sha is excellent for breaking up adhesions and scar tissue and treating disorders of the ligaments and tendons. Facial Gua Sha includes gentle pressure strokes and massage over lubricated skin with a smooth-edged tool, benefiting in depuffing the face by draining lymphatic fluid, clearing congested skin, firming sagging skin and jowls, and relieving jaw tension.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a warming technique in Chinese Medicine that involves burning a special herb called Moxa (Chinese Mugwort) over specific acupoints on the body.

Moxibustion is used to warm the body, dispel cold, increase circulation, stimulate the immune system, and tonify the Qi or vital energy of the body.

This gentle yet powerful therapy is especially beneficial for those with chronic pain, digestive issues, fatigue, and cold-related conditions.
