Richard Morantz, a native Kansan, is a graduate of California Acupuncture College in San Diego. He has been licensed by the State of California in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology since 1987 and has practiced in Lawrence since 1997.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Southern California with an emphasis on shamanism and ethnobotany. He studied with Iona Teegarden at the Jin Shin Do Institute in Santa Monica, and at the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego.

He taught Chinese Herbology and Oriental Medical Theory at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. His post-graduate continuing education has been with some of acupuncture's leading teachers including Matt Callison, Richard Tan, and Alex Tiberi.

Richard lives on 80 acres in the Baldwin Woods, which he manages for wildlife habitat and biodiversity. His other interests are cooking great meals every day, gardening organically, practicing yoga, playing music, environmental and political activism, and playing golf and the design and creation of an organically maintained golf course through his prairie acreage.
